Sober and Dribbla have been making music together for 5 years. They met in Bristol where they have recorded all of their music to date. They have completed 2 EPs and an album: Deeper rest, The Broken Plan and Freaks Speak Dark all receiving rave reviews. They have supported acts such as DJ Premier, The Herbaliser and Taskforce as well as countless others.
Their unique sound came from Sober’s reluctance to keep digging for records. He wanted to create the samples himself and soon a Micro Korg was purchased and Sober and Dribbla’s sound was born. Since that moment Sober has carved his own niche within the scene and no one else makes beats that sound like his, making him one of the most original and gifted producers in England.
Dribbla’s off the wall lyrics and aggressive rap style blurs the lines between the abstract and the hardcore, the battle rapper and the conscious rapper and compliments Sober’s beats perfectly. His energetic, dense sexual and violent imagery blends into his insecure and melancholic commentary, leaving a thick verbal layer for the listener to get lost inside. He has successfully crafted a style that is undoubtedly his own.
Together, their mission is to create an overall sound which is constantly developing but always recognisable as theirs. They are always trying to progress and push their music into different directions without neglecting the principles of good song writing.
Their music is their personal rebellion and with the second album ‘The Butcher's Ball’ now underway the future is looking bleak... just how they like it!
